Class Description

This entry-level course introduces the fundamentals of drawing over four sessions. Students will explore a range of materials and techniques while developing core concepts such as contour, shape, volume, line, value, and color. Each class includes guided instruction along with open studio time for observational drawing to reinforce new skills. Designed for beginners, this course offers a supportive yet challenging environment for anyone looking to build confidence and strengthen their drawing skills.

The materials fee for this class is $25. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts Venmo, Cash or Check

Learning Objectives
  • Become familiar with a range of drawing materials, including graphite and colored pencils, kneaded and polymer erasers, and the basic qualities of drawing paper.
  • Develop an understanding of foundational drawing concepts such as contour, shape, volume, negative space, value, line, perspective, color, and color theory.
  • Practice drawing from observation to strengthen accuracy and visual awareness.
  • Build a solid foundation in basic drawing techniques and gain the confidence to continue exploring drawing beyond the course.
