Draw Someone You Know — Ink Portrait
About this Event
Draw Someone You Know — Ink Portrait in Hackney
Join us in person for a fun and creative session where you'll get to draw an ink portrait of someone you know!
For 1.5 hours, you sit with rice paper, ink, and one question: what’s the person’s emotion when you draw them?
It's a slow, guided experience — three tones of ink teaching you to see light and shadow without a pencil sketch first. By the end, you'll have painted one unique character.
You want to learn something new — not scroll through another list of ideas that goes nowhere. This is a fully hands-on workshop: no prep, no prior skill, just show up and make something with your own hands.
Who this is for Anyone who wants to pick up a new creative skill without the pressure of getting it "right." Come with a friend or family member and turn it into real quality time together — or come alone and claim your own time.
What you'll experience:
- How to draft a portrait in correct proportion
- Brush-holding technique — try different brushes for ink lines
- Three-ink technique — saturated but controlled, tone through pressure, not dilution
- Tree-ring brushwork — your pauses and speed become visible marks
- One completed ink portrait to take home
