Single Launch gig for Dragged Up with special guests, The Rotations and Alex Rex at The Doublet.
Please note, the venue has very limited capacity, so we have a limited number of advance tickets. Please don't rely on turning up on the door!
Hope you can make it along!
‘Dragged Up’s style is eclectic and intense, distilling much of the history of alternative music into a single band, and doing so in a highly inventive manner.’ Kim Harten Lam, Bliss Aquamarine
'Their arty slack-punk attack has roots in the anorak era, but displays a much scummier surface than any of those poppers ever managed. Loose loud psych guitar gets woven into vocals with a certain paisley heft, but it’s all presented without cliches. Very, very cool’ - Byron Coley, The Wire
There will be a very limited number of lathe-cut singles available to buy at the event, which will be the inaugural release by Scotland's newest label imprint, Warped Tracks.
THE ROTATIONS
After several years of outlaw activity in Glasgow's underground music scene The Rotations maintain their position on the peripheries with singular aplomb, If you meld Meek-esque beats with off-kilter Partch anti-melodies, you will arrive at their unique blend of junkyard cacophony. Always an experience to behold in a live performance, The Rotations have been likened to everything from the Muppet Band, The Fall, Eden Abhez, Tom Waits, Silver Apples and the Mos Eisley Band from Star Wars.
ALEX REX
Virtuosic drummer, iconoclastic writer, unbridled songwriter, theatrical conjurer, he’s that and much more. We perhaps best know him for commanding body of work in the general sphere of avant-folk type folks, having been to the fore in Trembling Bells, Scatter, and Tight Meat Duo/Trio, a notable contributor to the bands of Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Jandek, Shirley Collins, and Alasdair Roberts. As he describes it, these are songs of love, loss and loathing that make the detestable whistleable..
