ABOUT THE BOOK
Women Making Soup Together, a warm, communal, feminist collection exploring tenderness, womanhood, and the domestic rituals that shape our lives. Rachel's work is deeply rooted in care, that 'kitchen-table' type of intimacy, and the quiet radicalism of everyday womanhood.
In Women Making Soup Together, Rachel Turney explores the connection between and among women while examining issues critical to the survival and nourishment of women globally, both figuratively and literally.
“With Women Making Soup Together, I examine themes of womanhood like longing, being misunderstood, and rape. I also address the painful reality of strained connections between women. I have included an ode to the egg and poems about history, rooted in women's traditional roles, to reclaim our identity. I dabbled in surrealism with some pieces, a genre of poetry that has historically lacked the voice of women. My hope for this project is that readers will find connection, inspiration, and feel understood through the pages. This book also calls on us to stand together in these critical times and seek out allies who support the equity of wom0n and all humans worldwide.” - Dr. Rachel Turney
