Downtown Sailing with Project SOAR 2026

Ready to swap the pavement for the pier? Project SOAR invites you to join our veteran sailing series in the heart of downtown Wilmington. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or have never stepped foot on a boat, this is your chance to catch the wind, learn the ropes, and connect with a community that speaks your language.

There’s something about being on the water that clears the head. We keep things relaxed, safe, and—most importantly—fun.

• The Experience: A guided sailing excursion on the Cape Fear River. You can help man the sails or just sit back and enjoy the view.
• The Vibe: Low pressure, high energy. No prior experience is required.
• The Crew: You’ll be sailing with fellow veterans and experienced Captain from Project SOAR.
• Location: Public docks (Downtown Wilmington), Near Hotel Ballast
• What to Wear: Non-marking rubber-soled shoes (sneakers are great), sunblock and layers.
• Cost: Free for veterans
