Downtown McKinney Scavenger Hunt

Downtown is your canvas this year! Join us on Saturday, August 29, 2026 for a full day of scavenger hunt fun! From hidden brushstrokes to glowing murals, keep your eyes open for details most people walk right past. Every storefront, sculpture, and side street could be hiding something. We've hidden the fun in plain sight. Will you see it?
This year features multiple ways to play. Chase the grand prize, or send the kids on their very own hunt with two different routes for continued fun throughout the day! The hunts are independent of each other, so you can enjoy whichever ones you like. More games, more adventure!

• The hunt kicks off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 29.
• The first clue and puzzle will start at Dr. Glenn Mitchell Memorial Park, 300 W Louisiana St, McKinney, TX 75069.
• There are no printed maps this year. Everything will be digital, right from your phone.
• Follow @DowntownMcKinney and @VisitMcKinneyTX on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
• Visit thirteen (13) stops and solve a challenge at each to progress to the next. Each stop asks you to look a little closer at the shapes, colors, and craftsmanship of Downtown McKinney.
• Scan the code at each stop to unlock your next clue. Your progress is tracked automatically, so no pencils required.
• Once all thirteen (13) challenges are correctly completed in the correct order, participants will unlock the final prize challenge.

• Kids get their very own hunt this year, featuring two different routes so the adventure can continue throughout the day!
• Each route offers its own trail of kid-friendly clues and discoveries. Complete one or take on both!

• Puzzle pieces will be hidden specifically for children in four locations: Dr. Glenn Mitchell Park, Central Park, TUPPS Brewery, and McKinney City Hall Plaza.
• Prize redemption location will be announced shortly
• All prizes may only be claimed between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the day of the hunt.
• Only five (5) prizes may be claimed per household. Please be courteous of others who will be participating.

2. Maps: There are no paper maps this year. All materials will be available digitally through our official channels.

3. Prizes:

A. Main Event Grand Prize: The first participant to correctly solve all twelve (13) challenges, in the correct order, will win the $2,500 cash prize.

B. Main Event Additional Prizes:

• 2nd Place: $500 in Downtown Dollars
• 3rd Place: $250 in Downtown Dollars
• 4th Place: $100 in Downtown Dollars
• 5th Place: $50 in Downtown Dollars

C. Limited Edition Medal

• The first 50 people to finish the hunt receive a limited edition Downtown McKinney Scavenger Hunt medal. Once they're gone, they're gone. Finish strong.

D. Puzzle Pieces: 1500 Puzzle pieces are hidden for children only in Dr. Glenn Mitchell Park, Central Park, TUPPS Brewery, and McKinney City Hall Plaza. Prize redemption location will be announced shortly. Limit 5 prize claims per person. If you're not redeeming a piece, please return it to where you found it. All prizes may only be claimed between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the day of the hunt.

E. Children's Adventure Prizes

• This year, children will have a hunt of their own. There will be two "routes" for them to solve. The first 50 children to solve their respective routes will receive a limited edition puzzle. Limit 1 per child.

4. Respect for Property: Please do not damage, deface, or trespass on private property. Everything is placed with care and respect—please return the favor.

5. Public Accessibility: All clues and puzzle pieces are placed in safe, accessible, public areas. No digging, climbing, or unsafe behavior is required or allowed.

6. Property Boundaries: Clues and puzzle pieces will only be found in public rights-of-way, City property, or visible public areas of private property. TUPPS Brewery property is included, but not inside any buildings.

7. Redemption: Prize redemption location will be announced shortly. Puzzle pieces must be surrendered at the time of redemption and will be verified and exchanged for child-appropriate prizes. There is a limit of three (5) prize redemptions per household. McKinney Main Street and Visit McKinney are not liable for any issues related to prize availability or redemption.

Participant acknowledges their full consent, agreement and willing participation in the Scavenger Hunt. In consideration thereof, Participant forever waives, releases, discharges and agrees to hold harmless Sponsors, together with their respective affiliates, promotional partners, sponsors, event organizers, individual team members, owners and lessees of premises used to conduct the event, and all other officers, directors, employees, agents, successors, assigns, and legal representatives of each of them, all for the purposes herein referred to as RELEASEES, from all liability, any and all claims, demands, actions, causes and expenses of any nature, including but not limited to property damage, personal injury, liability, attorney’s fees, expenses for litigation and/or settlement arising out of my participation in the Scavenger Hunt. I understand that the Scavenger Hunt is conducted on or near open public roadways and understand that I must be alert and obey all traffic laws as it pertains to pedestrians. By participating in the Scavenger Hunt, I forever agree and consent not to sue the RELEASEES in any cause of action arising out of my/our participation of the Adventures in Scavenger Hunting and Party. I agree that this consent and release shall apply to all of my successors in interest.

Participation in the scavenger hunt is free and open to the public. There is no purchase necessary to join the hunt or to win prizes.
By participating in the Downtown McKinney Scavenger Hunt, you agree to abide by these rules and ensure a positive experience for all involved. Failure to do so may result in the immediate disqualification of any such participant, at the sole discretion of the Sponsors. Employees, independent contractors, interns, officers, directors, and agents of the Sponsors and/or the City of McKinney, and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate. The Sponsors of "Downtown McKinney Scavenger Hunt" (the "Scavenger Hunt") are McKinney Downtown Business Re-Development Corporation (d/b/a McKinney Main Street) and McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. (d/b/a Visit McKinney).
