Take part in the national Douglass Day Festivities with Emory Libraries!
About this Event

Douglass Day is an annual program that marks the birth of Frederick Douglass. Each year, thousands of people across the nation gather to help create new & freely available resources for learning about Black history.
Join Emory Libraries' celebration for Douglass Day by joining us between noon and 3pm on Friday, February 14th in Rose Library's Woodruff Commons. We will take part in the national festivities, including singing "Lift Every Voice and Sing", transcribing portions of the African American Perspectives collection at the Library of Congress, and indulging in birthday cupcakes! In addition, there will be selected rare materials on display from Rose Library and Pitts Theological Library related to Black history.
This program is free and open to the public. If you are able, bring a laptop to take part in the transcription portion of the celebration.
Tentative Schedule of Activities:
12:00 to 12:30pm | Opening Presentation
12:30 to 1:00pm | Transcription Activity
1:00 to 1:30pm | Singing & Reading
1:30 to 2:45pm | Transcription Activity
