Double bill: Contemporary Ballet+Contemporary Dance pop-up classes 22 Jun

Double bill ticket: Take both classes for £15 (only £7.50 per class) and make it a two-hour bonanza of dance bliss! Lush.

This ticket is for both pop-up morning classes on 22nd June:

• Contemporary Ballet 10:30-11:30 and
• Contemporary Dance 11:30-12:30.

Contemporary Ballet: Blending the structure of ballet and the freedom of contemporary dance, this open level class builds up strength, balance and grace to some catchy eclectic tunes. It introduces key principles of ballet technique in an accessible way, because ballet can be for everybody. Expect well-explained exercises, flowing choreography blending contemporary and ballet - and a great workout!

We start with a series of (barre-less) barre exercises in the centre to build core strength, progressing to movements that travel across the space, and a longer phrase. We focus on finding fluidity and enjoyment in movement rather than the perfect turnout.

Contemporary Dance: This open level class draws from a range of contemporary dance techniques. Expect flowing choreographed exercises with an eye on technique - set to some catchy eclectic tunes that just make you want to dance!

We start with a short gentle floor phrase, continue with some exercises to mobilise the feet, legs, arms and spine, and finish with a longer phrase that travels and explores movement textures, musicality and flow. We use breath, opposition, impulse, weight and suspension to affect movement.

Adults (18+) of all levels welcome, from seasoned practitioners to beginners with basic (not necessarily recent) experience of movement such as yoga or dance. This is a good vibes class focused on finding joy, challenge and growth in movement.

What to wear: Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Socks (or ballet slippers) for Contemporary Ballet, socks or bare feet for Contemporary Dance.

Location: The Dance Space in Brighton (2 Market St, Circus St, BN2 9AS).

Spaces in the class can be booked up until the class start time.
