This talk follows the history of button making as a local cottage industry, from its origins in Shaftesbury in the 1600s to its eventual demise two hundred years later. Our speaker will explain what is happening now to help keep this heritage craft vibrant and will show some original examples of Dorset buttons from her own collection.Speaker: Anna McDowell BEM
Anna McDowell is a textile artist and Dorset button maker based near Shaftesbury.
Doors open from 1.30pm. Refreshments will be served following the talk. Tickets: £5 on the door. Free admission for members of Sherborne Museum.
