Nevada County is an amazing place to live. We have the beautiful Yuba River.
A downtown which looks painted right onto a post card.
And also, lots and LOTS of off leash dogs.
If you're a dog owner who prefers to enjoy a walk with your dog in public areas, safely, on-leash and without being threatened by random dogs running up to you; I'd bet some of you have experienced the limitations of our gorgeous little town.
Maybe you have a dog working on improving their dog reactive behaviors.
Maybe the shouting of a dog owner at a distance yelling "DON'T WORRY THEY'RE FRIENDLY!!!" after their dog repeatedly ignores their recall cue isn't quite providing you the comfort and peace of mind they were hoping to inspire.
Or maybe you are concerned about what you would do in a situation where an off leash dog is providing threat displays, aggressive behaviors or a full-on forward attack.
If you would like to have the confidence, awareness and knowledge of how you can safely and effectively navigate these conditions, then "Don't Worry, their friendly" may be a good place to find some of the answers you are looking for.
Our Community seminar series continues in February with this topic which is near and dear to my heart.
In this 90 minute event, I will be covering the various techniques and approaches we can safely and effectively utilize to navigate off leash dogs approaching you.
Introducing and demonstrating something called defensive handling will be the focus of our discussion and how you may use these skills to quickly respond to random off leash dogs charging you. Groups of dogs initiating conflict with your on-leash dog. Larger dogs rushing your small dog. What to do when a dog attacks you, your dog, and even how to effectively and safely break up a dog fight.
The cost for this event is $15 and all proceeds go directly towards purchasing supplies for carrying out behavioral support programs I currently provide to the population of dogs at Sammie's Friends.
There will be no limited time offer at the end.
I am not trying to generate enrollment for a new class I provide.
I am a graduate student studying clinical animal behavior and am collecting credits for the teaching component of the program.
The cost of the ticket is designed to improve the emotional health of the animals I am supporting at Sammie's Friends and encourage people who get tickets to attend the event.
My preferred population for the past 15 years has been municipal shelter animals.
As an aggression specialist, I am regularly working with dogs who have a significant history of violence; most of them live in the very stressful and unpredictable conditions a shelter provides.
I am so excited to share this valuable information, taught from the concepts and systems of some of the world's most reputable and experienced minds on the topic who I am so fortunate to learn from.
I expect that this event will sell-out.
Get your tickets now.
The entrance to the event is immediately across the street from the hotel's main lobby and check-in desk. There will be a sign on the door.
I love your dog(s).
PLEASE LEAVE THEM AT HOME.
This is a dog-free event.
If you are thinking about bringing your dog for any reason, please don't.
See you soon!
