Don't Cry For Me: My Yeshiva
About this Event
Don’t Cry For Me: My Yeshiva is the story of Joe Fox and the making of his documentary of a same-sex marriage referendum battle that took place in Maine. Throughout the three month campaign – Joe needed to “play it straight” in the Lobster State in order to gain access to the side that opposed marriage for all. Gaining a remarkable front row seat to those who saw him as being less than human; this is a story of the need to connect and reach across the insurmountable divide.
Part musical parody, part memoir and part cry from the heart to love the ones we choose; this unforgettable evening takes the audience on an incredible life journey that begins for Joe in a Yeshiva classroom – eventually bringing him to Maine and beyond. A journey that ends in the most unexpected and wondrous of places.
After rave reviews at the 92Y, we are thrilled to host this show at The Ark!
