The AFP Donor Retention: A Self-Assessment Workshop is based on data collected via the
Fundraising Effectiveness Project. Its purpose is to show nonprofits the value of tracking overall gains and losses in gifts and donors – then how to use that information to develop cultivation strategies to improve donor retention.
The focus of this workshop is on developing a donor retention plan based on what research indicates really works. Topics covered include:
• Why organizations lose donors and money
• How keeping donors increases fundraising success
• Determining the effectiveness of fundraising efforts through use of the FEP Fundraising
Fitness Test
• Developing a successful donor retention plan
Program Objectives
Following the AFP Donor Retention: A Self-Assessment Workshop participants will be better able to:
• Identify effective practices to retain and upgrade your donors to improve fundraising
effectiveness
• Prepare a donor retention plan for your organization
• Use data from growth-in-giving reports to develop growth-related fundraising strategies
This course has been approved for 8 CFRE credits.

Materials: A Self-Assessment Workshop Participant Manual will be shipped to each participant
Sophia Reid is the Associate Director Advancement Operations at the University of Waterloo. She has held fundraising positions with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the YMCA of Greater Toronto, Humber College and Mohawk College Foundation. Sophia is an active member of several professional organizations such include the Association of Advancement Services Professionals, Association of Fundraising Professionals -Toronto Chapter, Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education – Program Advisory Committee and the Black Canadian Fundraisers Collective.
Sophia is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and an AFP Master Trainer with many years of leading various workshops. Outside of work and fundraising Sophia has a passion for fitness and enjoys dragon boating in the summer. She is a huge fan of the Toronto Raptors.
Jessica Wroblewski, MPNL, CFRE, MFA-P, ESG-P, is an award-winning fundraiser with 13 years of progressive experience. Her track record of achievement includes generating over $68 million in revenue. Jessica is a PhD candidate in Sustainability Management at the University of Waterloo with research interests in corporate social responsibility, philanthropy, and volunteering.
She is an active member of AFP and CAGP, and writes, speaks, and lectures about fundraising and the non-profit sector. In 2017, Jessica received the AFP Global Outstanding Young Professional Award.
