Don Ross and Julie Malía

GUITAR SERIES • DOORS @ 6:30PM • SHOW@7:30PM

Don Ross and Julie Malía, both well-established solo performers, have formed a new musical partnership and have performed over 100 duo concert performances in Germany, the UK, Italy, Austria and North America.

Don Ross was born and raised in Montreal and was the son of a Mi’kmaw Indigenous mother and a Scottish immigrant father. In 1988 he won the US National Fingerpick Guitar Championship and played with his quartet Eye Music at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. He hasn't looked booked and now has 16 solo albums to his credit as well as numerous collaborative recordings.

German guitarist and singer-songwriter Julie Malia effortlessly moves between various styles of virtuosic concert guitar literature, complex fingerstyle arrangements, and her original songs. In doing so, she bridges the gap between classical and jazz, between instrumental and vocal music, and between earthy grooves and celestial sounds. Julie lives in Dresden where she teaches guitar at the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music.
