Doggerel at Drunken Poet

Originally created as a low-stakes blues duo side-project, DOGGEREL began life in Hobart, Tasmania back in 2011. Over the years and hundreds of shows the beast has morphed through several lineups into a semi-heavy near-blues nonsense quartet featuring dobro and alto sax and covering subject matter both of great depth and of utter puerility. There have been, however, three constants in the live performances over the last decade and a half: alcohol, improvisation, and cheek. DOGGEREL is truly a live band with no two performances quite the same - a torrent of fun running over a shifting riverbed of guaranteed uncertainty, a sincere rejection of modern perfectionism, and a rough-hewn tribute to the principle of energy over aesthetic.
