Doctoral Spring School "Sustainability, Resilience and Wellbeing"

Overview:

The Research Centre For Psychology, Education And Emotional Intelligence (PEEI) at Technological University Dublin (Ireland), Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Université de technologie de Troyes (France) and Université Côte d'Azur (France) are collaborating to host a postgraduate spring school in Nice from 23rd - 27th March with a specific focus on wellbeing and sustainability. The main purpose of the school will be to bring together postgraduate research students from the four universities (and three countries) involved, to allow students to create connections and learn together.

The spring school will take place across five days and is designed around the internationally recognised Inner Development Guide Framework (IDGs). Each day will focus on one of the five IDGs (Being, Thinking, Relating, Collaborating, Acting).

Three sessions will be offered per day, as follows:

· A morning session which will be practise led and will focus on meditation, mindfulness and reflection (though participation in meditation is of course optional).

· A lunchtime session which will consist of a daily workshop focusing building skills and knowledge related to a key aspect of wellbeing, sustainability or research practise.

· Afternoon sessions will be group-based and collaborative and will focus on intercultural exchange and actioning the learning from earlier sessions. Opportunities to meet one-on-one with academic staff for mentoring will also be available.

Learning goals and expected output:

Participants will engage with experts in the fields of wellbeing, resilience and sustainability to develop their knowledge and awareness of current theory and practise. An applied perspective will be taken such that participants will be encouraged to reflect on how theory and knowledge can be embedded in their research pracise.

With this in mind all participants are requested to bring with them an outline research plan or an outline research paper they would like to publish. For example, first year PhD students could bring a rough outline of their proposed research question/s and methodology, and more experienced postgraduate students could bring an outline, or even just an idea that could form the basis of a publication in their field of study. Throughout the week, these will be developed and students can work collaboratively with each other and with research experts to refine them.

The refined works will be presented and discussed in the Show And Tell session at the end of the week and it is hoped that participants will leave with a viable template for a study or a publication which will be a tangible output reflecting their engagement throughout the week.

Please note that participation in the PhD School can be awarded with 7.5 ECTS credits.
