KING OF THEM ALL: THE STORY OF KING RECORDS
UK Premiere + Q&A
The fascinating chronicle of the underdog record label that launched James Brown and transformed American music. Founded by Syd Nathan in the 1940s, it pioneered an "all under one roof" operation, recording, pressing and shipping groundbreaking music at remarkable speed. Rare archival recordings and evocative imagery bring its story to life, including peerless recordings by artists ranging from Little Willie John and Hank Ballard to the Stanley Brothers. The film celebrates a fearless community of innovators whose soul, R&B, rock'n'roll and bluegrass recordings continue to reverberate through music today.
▷ UK Premiere + Q&A with Dir. Yemi Oyediran
