DMP Hop On Hike Off: Shankill to Barnaslingan Wood

This walk is accessible by DART. From Shankill Station, it’s approximately a 5-minute walk.

The route will follow along the eastern section of the Dublin Mountains Way (DMW), taking in Rathmichael Wood, Carrickgollogan summit, the Lead Mine’s chimney and Barnaslingan Wood. We will then return to Shankill via the DMW passing by a Fassaroe Cross. The route surfaces include, footpaths, county road, gravel trails and forest floor. On a clear day the views along the route are breathtaking.

Date: Sunday, 5th of July 2026 at 10:45.

Duration: 4 - 5 hours, approximately.

Distance: 13km approximately, 350m of climb.

Degree of difficulty: Moderate.

Bring: Sturdy waterproof footwear, rain gear, extra layers, water, and lunch.

Meeting point: Brady's Pub, Shankill from 10:30.

Parking is available at Brady’s Pub for €3, or free if you dine or drink at the bar afterwards. Alternative parking available at the Dart Station.

No Dogs allowed on this hike.
