This workshop focuses on various aspects of hot club-style jazz guitar in the tradition of the legendary Django Reinhardt. Topics include rhythm, picking, scales, arpeggios, chords, soloing, and more. Paul Mehling will guide you through the essential techniques and stylistic nuances that define this vibrant genre.One-on-one evaluation is available to all attendees, providing personalized feedback to help you improve your playing.
About Paul Mehling
A professional musician since the age of 11, Paul Mehling plays the guitar, violin, tenor, plectrum banjo, string bass, mandolin, and vocals. He is a leader of the Hot Club of San Francisco, producer of 3 instructional DVDs on HomespunVideos (guitar lessons), named by PBS as the “father of gypsy jazz in the US.” He has 12 CD recordings under the name of Hot Club of San Francisco. Mehling also plays in a variety of settings from blues to swing to New Orleans.
