Gypsy Jazz is back with the Django Djunkies playing Live on the Patio - Sunday July 21, 2024. Music starts at 2pm, and they'll play two 45 minutes sets. Sunshine, jazz, and cider - what more could you ask for on a Sunday afternoon?The Django Djunkies play music known as Gypsy Swing or Gypsy Jazz. This is a style of music from the 1920s which is based on a European interpretation of early jazz and jazz standards in combination with European influenced styles. Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli were early proponents of this style and modern performers such as Bireli Lagrene and Stocholo Rosenberg (Rosenberg Trio) carry on the tradition. Their group consists of two guitars, bass guitar and mandolin/violin virtuoso Conrad Kipping.
