Diwali & Tihar Celebrations 2025- Staff and Students

York St John University Chaplaincy team and the York Indian Cultural Association (YICA) invite you to our Lord Mayor’s Walk campus to celebrate the ‘Festival of Lights’.

The evening will begin with the lighting of lights, followed by a religious ceremony led by the local Sikh and Hindu communities in Temple Hall. There will then be a wonderful Indian meal served, and a celebration in the Holgate Dining Room. All are welcome to come and help us celebrate this joyous event.

This is ticketed event so please register if you wish to attend.

YSJ Staff - Free (proof of staff status required).

YSJ/ University of York Student - Free (proof of YSJ/UOY student status required)

Event Schedule:

4.00pm - 6.00pm Diwali Presentation and Pooja (Temple Hall)

6.00pm - 7.00pm Meal (Holgate Dining Room)

7.00pm - 8.30pm Celebrations (Holgate Dining Room)

8.30pm - Event ends

Parking

There is no parking for any vehicles on site and ANPR cameras are in operation 24/7. We have a small number of Blue Badge spaces available, these spaces can only be used if guests have pre registered their number plates by emailing [email protected]. Registering your details does not guarantee a space, as they operate on a first come, first served basis. Please ensure your blude badge is displayed clearly in the vehicle.
