Join us for Discovery Cinema, a Saturday afternoon matinee series for families. This May, we’re screening a series of films in honour of Asian Heritage Month. These films look at themes of family bonds, patriarchal expectations, friendship, and destiny from a wide range of Asian filmmakers.Jess Bhamra, the daughter of a strict Indian couple in London, is not permitted to play organized soccer, even though she is 18. When Jess is playing for fun one day, her impressive skills are seen by Jules Paxton, who then convinces Jess to play for her semi-pro team. Jess uses elaborate excuses to hide her matches from her family while also dealing with her romantic feelings for her coach, Joe.
Presented in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and German with English subtitles.
Tickets are $10, members and youth under 18 get in free. All guests must check-in at the front desk to receive an admission token.
