Discover Fashion Drawing in a Relaxed, Creative Setting
Join fashion illustrators Elyse Blackshaw and Daria Stephenson for a friendly, inspiring evening of experimental fashion drawing... no prior experience needed!
Whether you’ve never really drawn before or you’re simply curious to try something new, this two‑hour workshop is designed to help you loosen up, build confidence, and enjoy the creative process. Using fashion as our starting point, you’ll be guided step‑by‑step through a range of playful drawing techniques in a pressure‑free environment.
What you’ll explore:
- A variety of drawing materials and how to make them work for you
- Expressive techniques, from fast‑paced gesture sketches to longer posed drawings
- Simple ways to refine your figures and add character and realism to faces
- How to embrace experimentation rather than “getting it perfect”
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with multiple finished artworks to take home, frame, or gift... along with new skills and creative confidence!

The workshop is held at Department XYZ, is a vibrant space in the heart of Spinnginfields, Manchester. Department is home to creative studios, collaboration hubs, and social space,making it the perfect setting to get inspired. XYZ is also all powered by 100% green energy!

Workshop begins and introduction from your hosts!
Host: Elyse Blackshaw
Info: Guided workshop for the first hour exploring a range of drawing techniques, starting from exploring and getting to know your media, followed by mark making, and fast paced sketches to loosen up and break down any fears of drawing! We will build up skills over this hour to help you feel confident!

Exploration
Info: Once you have explored materials and techniques, you will be able to have time to slow down the pace, chat to other guests and have time to focus on creating illustrations without time restraints. Elyse and Daria will be on hand to help or answer any questions!
