James Teej, a Grammy-nominated (2017 Best Remixed Recording) Canadian electronic music artist, producer, and DJ currently based in Victoria, British Columbia, has built a distinguished 30-year career that has elevated him to one of Canada’s most respected figures in the global underground electronic scene. Known for his boundary-pushing sound that seamlessly spans house, techno, and electronica, Teej has released music on some of the world’s most respected imprints, including Rekids, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, Rebirth, No.19 Music, and Sasha’s Last Night On Earth.
His two critically acclaimed solo albums and contributions to prestigious compilations like Fabric and Global Underground (mixed by Jamie Jones and Dave Seaman) underscore his consistent creative output. As a highly sought-after remixer and collaborator, Teej has worked with legends such as Paul McCartney & Wings, Moby, Sasha, Trentemøller, Timo Maas, and Hernán Cattáneo, earning widespread respect from peers and top-tier DJ support from Pete Tong, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Damian Lazarus, and many others. His innovative productions and remixes continue to resonate across the international underground landscape.
