Montana author Kendra Langford Shaw joins the Northwest Passages Book Club July 15 to discuss her debut novel, “The Pillagers’ Guide to Arctic Pianos,” at the Montvale Event Center.
Shaw will be in conversation with Spokesman-Review reporter Nick Gibson at 7 p.m.
The author: Born and raised in Alaska “when the state boomed with oil money,” Shaw told People magazine her childhood inspired “The Pillagers’ Guide to Arctic Pianos.” She now divides her time between writing and serving as a city councilwoman in Billings, Montana. Shaw holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan, and has had fellowships at the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo and the Vermont Studio Center. Her stories have appeared in the Antioch Review, Story Quarterly, and The Mid-American Review. She also has worked as a teacher, small business owner, editor and grant writer.
