Location: (North of the main parking lot) 

Dig at Dawson to plant trees, pull invasive species and learn about biodiversity!

Community Forestry, Root for Trees and Invasive Plant Outreach invite you to a fun and educational afternoon to celebrate Edmonton's urban canopy in the River Valley. 

Activities (rotating schedule):

• Community Forestry activity
• Tree planting workshop
• Invasive W**d pulling workshop

Event Highlights:

• Learn about local plants and invasive species.
• Participate in hands-on conservation activities.
• Enjoy free Kind Ice cream (while quantities last).
• Explore the beauty of Edmonton's River Valley.

Registration:

Please arrive by 12 p.m. to register.

The event features three workshops. Be sure to arrive on time to experience all three activities.

Important Reminders

• Wear closed-toe shoes if you would like to participate in the planting activity.
• Dress for the weather. We recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
• All planting tools, gloves and training will be provided by City staff.

Weather

We plant and pull rain or shine! In the event of severe weather, the event may be shortened or cancelled for staff and public safety.

Severe weather conditions that would necessitate cancellation include:

• Thunderstorms or lightning
• Temperature equal to or above 34°C, including the Humidex
• Wind, including gusts, of over 45 km/h
• An air quality health index (AQHI) of 7 or above

The City of Edmonton retains the right to modify or cancel the planting in the case of inclement weather and public safety. Visit edmonton.ca/RootforTrees for up to date information.

Parking and Event Location

Please see the location and parking map below. The event site is approximately a 5 minute walk north along the path from the main Dawson Park parking lot and public washrooms. Parking is limited in this area. Please utilize public transit, cycling or active transportation options to access the event.
