Come celebrate with us as we close out our first year as Detroit Folk School. We are so thankful for our wonderful community and wanted to party with you one more time in 2025. Join us on Sunday, December 14 at Vámonos! 4444 W. Vernor Hwy. Doors at 4 p.m. and dance from 5–8 p.m.
Admission is donate what you can, but we know everyone is strapped for mula in December, so please join in the fun. No one will be frowned at (see purple cookie below) due to lack of funds. Proceeds go to Detroit Folk School programming so we can be sure to have a joyous year of dancing in 2026.
Come Play Music or Call a Dance
We are doing things a little different this time and inviting people who want to play music or call a dance to join in the fun. Cory will hold down the calling and Lindsay will hold down the fiddle, but we’d love to give others the opportunity to get involved, kinda like open mic style. Reach out if you are interested, or just show up with your (acoustic) instrument. If you are interested in learning how to call, let us know!
Cookie Exchange!
Do you always get the baking bug in December? Let’s share our baking bounty and diversify. The idea people will bring a cookie stash and you will fill up bags with a handful of cookies. We will supply bags and labels. Then you can take as many bags as you donate.
Community Potluck
We will also have our regular potluck. Bring potluck foods with serving utensils and lets feast. Vámonos! will also be serving delicious fare, beer, wine, nonalcoholic drinks including fresh squeezed juice.
Let’s Dance
Dance will start at 5 p.m. As always: gender-neutral calling, dancing is to live music, all ages welcome, no experience necessary, all dances will be taught, no partner needed. Dancing is optional, too. It’s 100% ok to hang out, eat, drink, enjoy the scene and socialize without dancing.
