Join us for a day to focused on your mind, body, and soul! This in-person event is all about reconnecting, utilising NHS screening services, relaxing, and recharging. Established in 1993, the charity maintains its commitment to working with children and young adults in our local community. We will be reflecting on Descendants over the three decades.
A bout Descendants
Descendants is a history and arts-focused organisation aimed at children and young people aged between 4-16 years old, primarily but not exclusively of African and Caribbean descent. Our charity works to create an environment where children and young people are able to learn and grow together by experiencing each other's diverse cultures and traditions through mediums of art, craft, music, drama and dance. We support and champion young people in the development of new skills, the utilisation of talents and celebrate their achievements both within and outside of academia. Examples of our projects and events would be the Annual Dr John Roberts QC CBE Achievement Awards, weekly educational sessions and our recently collaborative creative project with Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery. We aim to instil our young people with a sense of pride in their abilities, self-confidence and their understanding of their ancestral and local community. We take time to recognise and promote the accomplishments made by positive role models in the community from past trailer blazers to the present generation and with the view in mind that our young people will be world shapers of tomorrow.
