FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
American Legion Nevada Post 76 to Dedicate America 250 Monument Honoring America's First Veterans
Las Vegas, NV – Spirit of Freedom American Legion Post 76 will formally dedicate its America 250 monument on November 14, 2026, at 10:30 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
Created for America's 250th anniversary, the two-sided monument honors the men and women who secured American independence. Designed by Post 76 Historian Gary Parriott, it features bronze-colored figures of the Concord Minuteman, representing the citizen-soldiers who answered the alarm in 1775, and Molly Pitcher, symbolizing the women who sustained the Revolution through service at home, in camps, and on battlefields. The figures are mounted on polished black granite. The monument also honors all those who served in the subsequent 250 years to secure our freedom.
The monument was installed on June 24, 2026, and unveiled on June 27, just before Independence Day. The November dedication will serve as the official public commemoration.
To extend the monument's educational mission, Post 76 created commemorative America 250 challenge coins depicting both figures, accompanied by illustrated historical cards. The coins and cards were distributed at public events and remain available in exchange for donations to help secure future maintenance of the monument.
"Honoring America's first veterans, and inspiring the next generation," Parriott said. "Remembering their sacrifices means helping future generations understand why they still matter."
After the dedication, those interested in socializing and enjoying a good meal will meet at the Boulder City Supper Club, 1129 Arizona St, Boulder City, NV 89005. We will order from the menu and pay separately.
RSVPs are required for each event so we can plan how many chairs to reserve.
