About this Event
This is a very special collaboration with Jennifer Townsend and Brent Harris.
This sound immersion is one like no other.
Please join us for evening of honoring what is inevitable, to acknowledge the anxiety or ambivalence that commonly envelopes us when we think about our own death. During this session, allow yourself to embrace the idea while being held by the love, the safety and the healing of sound.
With this practice, we are setting ourselves up for peace. Wrapped in sound, we are open to contemplate our mortality, finding peace in a space that otherwise filled with so many other feelings and emotions.
This is an invitation to wrap yourself in the safety of love and community and to take time to think about the fact that we all will die, by acknowledging death and how that acknowledgement will inform us on how we will continue to live?
This evening will begin with a death mediation followed by a sound immersion.
During the Sound Immersion, various instruments such as Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls and gongs (and so much more), will fill the space, allowing you to move into a state of deep relaxation. In this place, you body is offered the opportunity to release stress, relax, and connect to your higher self.
The space where the quiet lies. In the stillness, your own clarity.
Attendees are asked to bring their own props. I suggest, at a minimum, a yoga mat and two blankets. I also encourage bringing a pillow, knee support, an eye pillow and warm layers, including socks. Anything and everything you need to relax. Comfort is most important. You can choose to lay on the floor or be seated, then you may close your eyes and let the sounds carry you to where you need to go.
Investment: $50
( does not include the Eventbrite fee)

About Kara:
A seeker by nature, Kara laughed when sound therapy found her (and not vice versa) shortly after returning to her home state of Michigan after nearly 20 years away.
Universe, you are hilarious.
A retreat and circle facilitator, writer and mom of plenty (okay, four), Kara began her studies in 2019 under Julie Chase of Wind Willow Sound Health. She has acquired all levels of certification and 200+ hours. She is a junior board member for the Wind Willow Consortium, a non-profit that brings sound to the community to help educate them on benefits of this healing modality.
Kara incorporates tuning forks, Tibetan singing bowls ,crystal bowls and a myriad of other instruments to bring the body into a deep state of relaxation, allowing the body to rest, recover and heal. She has worked with educational institutions such as Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, and Kalamazoo Public Schools. She has shared her work with the Michigan Bureau of Blind Services, various wellness programs throughout the community and has collaborated with teachers to bring sound to schools and introduce youth to sound and mindfulness. Kara has been invited to various retreats in the United States and Mexico and is available for private group sessions upon request.
Kara offers individual sessions at her studio in Kalamazoo, Michigan and two to three times a year in Portland, Oregon. You can find her group sessions throughout the state of Michigan and in various locations throughout the country.
