The inaugural Deaf Day at the Saint Louis Science Center creates a fully accessible STEM experience that celebrates Deaf culture and allows the Deaf and hard of hearing community to engage with science on their own terms. The facility will be transformed into an accessible environment with comprehensive ASL interpreter coverage throughout all galleries and programs and accommodations to remove communication barriers. The day features an exciting lineup of focused programming. The OMNIMAX Theater and Planetarium Star Shows throughout the event will feature specific accommodations to assist Deaf and hard of hearing guests, while multiple demonstrations and a special presentation on the Energy Stage will feature interpreted programming. An additional highlight will be an agricultural demonstration in the GROW gallery.
The Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is co-sponsoring this event with the Science Center. And, we're excited to have ASL Aspire and the Willow Tree Project serving as community partners.
The event is free and open to all guests. To learn more, visit www.slsc.org.
