Meet Your Instructor: Mabel Simpson | Underwriting Counsel | Westcor

Mabel brings more than 30 years of legal experience with her to Westcor, representing clients in corporate, real estate, commercial litigation, oil and gas, and construction law.

Simpson owned and operated her own law firm beginning in 1995 after working with another partner in private practice from 1987 through March of 1995. Prior to and during law school, she worked as an oil and gas Landman, examining sub surface land titles in Texas while learning the oil and gas business and this unique background helped shape her legal practice focused in Real Estate.

Mabel also has vast knowledge of regulatory and environmental law related to land acquisition and development (both residential and commercial), water and mineral rights. Her commitment to providing one-stop service for real estate, dealing with municipalities and county governments, as well as development of sub surface matters, like oil and gas and water clients led to an expanded practice where she could provide legal services in, finance, banking, entity set up and estate planning, incorporating full spectrum title expertise.

Honored as a Southern Trailblazer in 2021 by The American Lawyer magazine, Simpson is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, the Collin County Bar Association, the Texas Bar Foundation, and the Texas Bar College. A longtime businesswoman in North Texas, Simpson was elected to the Richardson City Council and served a term from 2015-2019. She is a graduate of Leadership Richardson, and she has been involved as a board member or leader in various civic and community organizations. She is on the TLTA legislative committee, and remains active in her community and industry.

Undergraduate: Southwest Texas State University (n/k/a Texas State Univ) 1980
