Gather with us Sunday afternoon to explore contact improvisation - on the first Sunday of the month in a more organized session called an Underscore. Cost is $14 to $17 for drop-in rate - see Dance Place's adult class schedule. Drop in or you can pre-register at https://www.hisawyer.com/dance-place/schedules/activity-set/1905631 . (If you can't afford that, skip the front-desk registration and talk with us.)
Our first Sunday of the month Underscore is like a jam but with more explicit structure. Being on time is important so we can start and proceed together. The session includes an orientation - a "talk through" - that describes the structure (score). Please attend the talk-through if you aren't familiar with it. It's presented between 2:00 and 2:40. (Those familiar with it are welcome to hear it again!) For those not attending the talk-through, please be present and have had your arrival process before the opening circle - Assembly - around 2:30. For more info, see https://www.dccontactimprov.net/the-sunday-jam/sunday-jam-activities/our-monthly-underscore .
The jam has been happening every Sunday for many years, and all are welcome. All that's necessary is a genuine interest to explore CI and willingness to be mindful of others and yourself. The jam is a rare opportunity for adults to play together with movement for the sake of play - the game is Contact Improvisation, and the players are people curious about moving cooperatively through shared points of contact.
For details about the location, directions, background on the jam and CI, see our webpage: https://www.dccontactimprov.net/the-sunday-jam.
We love our jam. Join us! (-:
