D.C. Celebrates Ukraine's Independence Day!
About this Event
On Saturday, August 22, for the fifth year in a row, (USUA) is bringing together supporters of Ukraine, the Ukrainian diaspora, and local Ukrainian-American groups and organizations to celebrate Ukraine's Independence Day in Washington, D.C. This three-part event tradition was founded in 2022 by , President of US Ukrainian Activists (USUA), and has been organized annually by her and USUA ever since.
💛💙Join us for a RALLY and the UNFOLDING of a GIANT UKRAINIAN FLAG (10 m × 14 m), followed by a MARCH with the flag and a CONCERT featuring Ukrainian music, poetry, and dance, as we come together to honor and celebrate Ukraine’s Independence, Liberty, Heritage, and Culture! 🇺🇦
August 24, Ukraine’s Independence Day, will also mark 4.5 years since the start of russia’s full-scale genocidal war against Ukraine, launched by the russian federation on February 24, 2022. During the event, we will honor the countless Ukrainian heroes and victims of russia’s 12-year-long invasion of Ukraine.
This family-friendly event welcomes everyone, Ukrainians and non-Ukrainians alike.

📍⌛August 22, 2026 (Saturday):
💥🇺🇦 4:30 PM: Assembly on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
💥🎤 5 –6 PM: OFFICIAL PROGRAM featuring speakers and a Ukrainian music interlude.
💥🇺🇦🚶6:15–7:15 PM:
📌UNFOLDING of a GIANT UKRAINIAN FLAG (33 × 46 ft / 10 × 14 m), then
📌MARCH WITH THE FLAG from the Lincoln Memorial along the Reflecting Pool, around the Washington Monument, and back to the Lincoln Memorial. 🇺🇦
💥🎶✨7:30–9:00 PM: CONCERT of Ukrainian Music and Dance.

This year, we will celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day at the Lincoln Memorial because the White House area, where we held the official part of our event during the last four years is currently fenced off with no announced reopening timeline.
In previous years, we marched with our large Ukrainian flag from the White House to the Taras Shevchenko Memorial. This year, we are going to march from the Lincoln Memorial around the Washington Monument and back to the Lincoln Memorial, where the event will conclude with a concert.
