Davening Liberation Oraciones (DLO) - Shabbat Morning, December 6 2025

We will have our usual mix of prayer, poetry and space to grieve in a Judaism beyond Zionism, held by our wonderful DLO community of gender-wonderful, deliciously critical, multi-generational leaders. This week’s Torah portion is Vayishlach - the Parshat in which our ancestor Jacob wrestles with an Angel and becomes Yis-Ra-El. From this story, we take our namesake as Godwrestlers; struggling with the ethical challenges of Zionism and colonization in our tradition.

We will also be unveiling our beautiful new Siddur, collectively created by the Siddur committee!

All ages, bodies and experience levels welcome!

Mutual Aid

Donations welcome for Green Olive Collective’s Sowing Solidarity Campaign. This is partnership with Burin Land and Farming Cooperative - a West Bank agricultural cooperative, fighting the onslaught of Christian Zionist “tree planting” project which colludes with violent Jewish settlers to encroach on Palestinian land, lobby for increased Jewish settlement, and threaten Palestinian lives and livelihood.

As always, 5% of our budget is dedicated to the Sacred Land Trust. Humble gratitude for our presence on the stolen, never ceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples, and the sacred waters of the Inlet, which nourish our bodies and spirits.

Kiddush

We will provide Challah, grape juice and snacks for kiddoes. Please feel free to bring some Kiddush nosh to share!

Childcare

We will have childcare on-site and kiddoes will have specific activities and snacks, while being welcome to come and go as they please throughout the service. A special invite to the younger members of our community: please help us lead the Torah procession!

Access

TGUC’s sanctuary is a wheelchair accessible space with all-gender washrooms.

Masking: we request that folx wear an N95 (we will provide some) except when leading prayer or eating. We ask that you please stay home if you’re feeling unwell.

Air circulation: there will be a balance of open doors and windows with 2 air filters.
