About this Event
As a Maine native, Dave Gutter is the frontman and primary songwriter for Rustic Overtones for more than 20 years. Rustic Overtones were signed by Clive Davis and made their debut label release with legendary collaborators Tony Visconti and David Bowie. Rustic Overtones has a large grassroots following in the northeast and still perform live.
Gutter has co-written songs with Aaron Neville, David Bowie, The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Imogen Heap, Talib Kweli, James Poyser, Ledisi, Mick Jenkins, Questlove?, The Black Violin, Eric Krasno, Spose, Wax, Grammatik, Griz, Sydney Franklin, Bensbeendead, Party Nails, Nigel Hall and many more.
In 2016 Gutter co-wrote the Aaron Neville album Apache which was an autobiographical collection of songs based on themes from Aaron Neville's poetry.
In 2023 the song “Stompin Ground” co-written by Gutter as performed by Aaron Neville and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band won a Grammy as part of the soundtrack to New Orleans documentary “Take me to the River”.
In 2023 Gutter was written about in the book “Pushing Ahead of the Dame”, about the songs and collaborations of David Bowie.
In 2024 Gutter was written about in the book “Tell it like it is”, the autobiography of Aaron Neville.
In 2024 Gutter co-wrote the song “Good Year” for the album Good Life by Ledisi which debuted at #1 on Apple Music.
June 2025 Dave Gutter releases the critically acclaimed concept album “The Music Industry is Trying to K*ll Me.”
