This event forms part of The Data Lab's 10th Anniversary celebrations which will see us take our ever-popular Data & AI Meetup across Scotland throughout October and November.

Join us at Bayes Centre in Edinburgh for a deep dive into data visualisation techniques with the 2024 Tableau Iron Viz competition champion, Chris Westlake!

Iron Viz is the world’s largest data visualisation competition, so we are thrilled to welcome Chris to share the insights and expertise that not only got him to the final but secured his spot as 2024 champion!

At this event, Chris will build a live data visualisation in front of our very eyes whilst talking through the rationale for his decision making, explaining his choice of visualisation techniques and answering any questions along the way.

In addition to the live data viz, there will be lots of opportunities to network and connect with the community.

Speaker bio:

Chris Westlake, Senior Business Intelligence Analysis at JLL, co-lead of the Scotland Tableau User Group and 2024 Iron Viz Champion

Chris has had a passion for data since childhood, and a love for data visualisation since discovering Tableau in 2018. Chris was part of the first cohort of Tableau Student Ambassadors in 2019, using this experience to launch into a career as a Visualisation Developer and BI Analyst. Over the past 6 years he has published over 150 vizzes on Tableau Public, earning 7 Viz of the Days. At the 2024 Tableau Conference, Chris was crowned as the Global Iron Viz champion. Chris has a passion for using his skills to foster collaboration and mentor others. He does this through co-leading the Scotland Tableau User Groups, serving as a Tableau Public Ambassador, and sharing his knowledge through regular talks and his blog - WestlakeAnalytics.com
