About this Event
In the 25th anniversary Angus Millar Lecture, our speaker will be award-winning novelist Andrew O'Hagan. He will address “Art, Literature and Truth in the Era of Fake News, Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence”, stressing how cultural heritage can be protected, passed on and re-imagined for and by each new generation.
Andrew O'Hagan was born in Glasgow. He has been nominated for the Booker Prize three times, was voted one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists in 2003 and won the E. M. Forster Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He is editor-at-large of the London Review of Books and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. He is also a Visiting Professor of Creative Writing at King's College London, and Honorary Professor of the University of Glasgow's College of Arts and Humanities. His most recent novel is the Sunday Times bestselling Caledonian Road.
The Angus Millar Lecture, a highlight of the annual programme in Scotland, is funded by the legacy of Angus Millar FRSA.
This event is open to both Fellows and non Fellows. Please note a video of this event will be recorded by the venue.
Taking part in RSA in-person events

If you wish to register another attendee, this must be done separately using a different email address. This is for capacity purposes. We encourage all attendees that are ill or showing symptoms of illness to stay home and to cancel your Eventbrite ticket if you are no longer able to join the event.
At the RSA, we strive to create inclusive and supportive environments for all Fellows. We recognise that individuals may require different forms of support to fully participate in our events and activities. Therefore, we welcome and encourage Fellows to bring the support they feel is necessary, whether it be a carer, an emotional support animal, or any other form of assistance. We ask that you fill out the accessibility requirements box in your Eventbrite booking form in advance of attending one of our events to ensure that the venues can accommodate such requirements. Our aim is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and valued, and we are committed to accommodating diverse needs to foster an inclusive community.
