PRESS RELEASE 13 April 2026MUNSTER FIRE & SAFETY CALLING THE PEOPLE OF MILLSTREET AND SURROUNDS TO SUPPORT PIETA HOUSE
The team at Munster Fire & Safety is walking from Darkness into Light on 9th May 2026 and they’re putting out the call to the people of Millstreet and the surrounding areas to do the same.
The Darkness into Light Walk has been organized by Munster Fire & Safety in Millstreet since 2021 and has proven to be a landmark annual community occasion.
Munster Fire and Safety in Millstreet is an official Darkness into Light venue and participants can register online to get their T shirt. (www.darknessintolight.ie)
Collection boxes will be available from this Friday the 17th April in local shops and on the day for anyone wishing to attend.
As usual, Munster Fire & Safety will have the support of other local businesses to provide refreshments in their Main Street store after the walk.
The walk will start at 4:45am to do a 5k walk starting at the junction for the Green Glens on the Killarney Road, walking to Drishane and back to the shop in time to have the kettle boiled for a hot cuppa for anyone who would like to avail.
Pieta House provides an essential service, and the Darkness into Light idea is a powerfully symbolic way to raise mental health awareness, as well as to remember any loved ones we have lost.
