About this Event
Happy Earth Month!
I am hosting another Dance For Earth event this Saturday morning 4/18. We will have a shake lab:)
A shake lab is a durational practice of shaking it up/out/in/down (in the million different ways that one can shake, jostle, agitate, rock, vibrate, rattle our systems) together. There's no wrong way and you don't need to be an experienced shaker. For more information on class and to register, please fill out the form here:
Come and shake ya treeeee!
I'm gratefully collaborating with each organization to theme the class based on the beautiful work they are doing for us. This time also plays an educational and social role to connect deeper into what's happening in our environment. Each event includes representatives from these orgs to share not only their dance (as class participants) but inform initiatives and call-to-actions that direct us towards the most meaningful step.
For April, we're donating funds to Tree San Diego & honoring this season for expansion and growth, rooting to rise, reach and stretch, bending without breaking, seeing and being seen. Blooming blooming blooming.
Next event will be May 23rd giving to the San Diego River Foundation.
Dance For Earth is an environmental art project and ongoing event that bridges somatic/dance practice with ecological awareness and community building. Participants experience movement as a physical and artistic practice as well as an actionable response to environmental urgency.
Each event includes representatives from a different local environmental organization to share not only their dance (as class participants) but inform initiatives and call-to-actions that direct artists/class takers towards the most meaningful step. In this way, these events are a form of advocacy and education on local environmental projects.
Each class is geared towards the good work the organization is doing for the environment through a one-hour, high-energy, integrative, guided experience. All bodies and levels of movement practice are welcome.
Donations are redistributed directly to these local environmental organizations working in conservation, climate resilience, and urban ecology.
