New York Fashion Week brings so much energy into the city, and we wanted to take a little of that energy and turn it toward something simple, positive and local: spending an afternoon together, taking care of a beautiful public space and meeting some of the people who make New York feel like New York.
On Saturday, September 12, we’re bringing D.A.N.C.E. — Dedicated Artists Now Cleaning the Environment to WNYC Transmitter Park for a relaxed community cleanup on the Brooklyn waterfront. Artists, designers, models, musicians, photographers, neighbors, families, friends and anyone who wants to help are welcome.
You do not need to work in fashion or the arts to join us. You do not need any special experience. Just come as you are, bring a friend if you’d like, and spend a few hours helping us leave the park a little cleaner than we found it.
We’ll have cleanup supplies available, music, creative people coming and going throughout the afternoon, and plenty of time to talk, connect and enjoy the waterfront while we work. Since it is NYFW, we fully expect a little style to make its way into the day too, but this is first and foremost about community, kindness and showing some love to the city we all share.
Registration is completely free.
As a thank-you, everyone who registers will receive a unique hand-signed artwork from Glo-Jo of Color My Everything Art. It is a small way for us to say that your time matters and that we genuinely appreciate you choosing to spend part of your Saturday giving back.
We’ll meet near the historic WNYC Transmitter House inside Transmitter Park and head out together from there.
Come for an hour or stay for the afternoon. Bring your friends, meet some new people, enjoy the park and help us do something good together.
