Chinese medicine offers more than needles and herbs. In this 90-minute interactive workshop, Yuki and Ian will introduce simple, practical techniques you can use in everyday life. Together, you will learn five easy acupressure points, four gua sha (scraping) areas that are traditionally used to support digestion, relaxation and sleep, a simple technique to release tension in the neck and shoulders, and two gentle qigong exercises to promote energy and well-being.
You will also learn how to prepare wild pine needle tea and explore its traditional uses. No prior knowledge is needed, and all practices will be taught step by step in real time.
You can expect to learn...
* Five acupressure points for daily self-care, including Hegu (LI4) and Zusanli (ST36).
* Four gua sha areas traditionally used to support digestion, relaxation, circulation and restful sleep.
* A simple technique using the Fengchi (GB20) area to ease neck and shoulder tension, plus a gentle seated exercise for lower-back and shoulder comfort.
* How to prepare wild pine needle tea, its traditional uses, and current research into its potential health benefits.
* Two easy qigong movements (drawn from Tai Chi and Ba Duan Jin) to encourage relaxation, body awareness and energy flow.
You will leave with practical, low-cost self-care tools that can be easily incorporated into daily life, along with a deeper understanding of how traditional Chinese medicine approaches health and wellbeing. We will also explore the relationship between belief, expectation and healing, and discuss what modern research tells us about acupuncture and acupressure, including their effects on pain perception and the body's natural endorphin response.
