DAC Presents: Cinematic Design Series: Phantom Thread
About this Event
DAC Presents: Cinematic Design Series: Phantom Thread
Join the Design Arts Collective at the Indianapolis Art Center on Tuesday, September 15 for an evening of film, fashion and conversation featuring Paul Thomas Anderson’s visually sumptuous Phantom Thread.
Set in the world of 1950s London couture, Phantom Thread is a beautifully crafted exploration of fashion, obsession, craftsmanship and the complicated relationships behind creative work.
Following the film, stay for a 15–20 minute conversation with three local experts who bring very different perspectives to what we see on screen:
- Angel Olivera of Olivera Couture — couture designer
- Jennifer Shirk of 713 Vintage — vintage clothing expert
- Jodie Bailey of Jodie Bailey Hats — milliner and former theatrical costumer
Together, they’ll explore the film’s clothing, construction, period details, and the extraordinary craftsmanship behind couture—as well as the ways fashion and costume help create character and tell a story.
OPTIONAL: Dress for the occasion!
Guests are invited to bring a little cinematic style of their own. Our favorite look of the evening will receive the inaugural Cinematic Design Series Sartorial Excellence Award — DAC 2026, along with a collection of special prizes.
Popcorn will be served, with a cash bar and signature mocktail available.
Come for the film. Stay for the design conversation. And if inspiration strikes, dress accordingly.
