Explore the Genius of Leonardo da Vinci at the Redwood Discovery Museum! In partnership with KEET-TV, The Redwood Discovery Museum invites families to Da Vinci's Marvelous Machines: A Hands-On Exploration on Saturday, November 16th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This FREE , interactive event offers kids the chance to step into the world of Leonardo da Vinci—the brilliant artist, inventor, scientist, and keen observer of nature.
In celebration of the upcoming Ken Burns documentary LEONARDO DA VINCI, premiering on KEET PBS on November 18 & 19 at 8 p.m., participants will get to explore some of da Vinci's most inventive designs, including the aerial screw, parachutes, and the ornithopter.
Through creative, hands-on activities, children will design and build their own parachutes, test bridge structures with Da Vinci’s Bridge, explore a human torso, and experiment with various machines just like da Vinci did.
"Da Vinci's Marvelous Machines offers a unique opportunity for kids to see how da Vinci's imagination and curiosity sparked incredible inventions," says Ken Pinkerton, from the museum's board of directors. "I'm thrilled to see kids engage with the exhibits I've designed and built for this event, and partnering with KEET-TV helps bring even more focus to STEAM education and da Vinci's enduring legacy."
