Cyanotype Printing
Two Workshop Times - 5:30pm and 8:00pm
No experience needed, beginner friendly.
Cyanotype prints are made with the power of the sun (UV light)! In this workshop you will be able to make up to three (4x5in) beautiful fabric prints. All supplies needed will be provided. If you would like to bring your own pressed plants, objects, or photo negatives please feel free to. Fresh plants that have not been pressed as any moisture can distort the cyanotype dye and change the outcome.
There are two session slots, 5:30pm and 8:00pm. Each session will have room for up to 20 people. As the second session will be starting right before sunset, there will be a UV lamp present to continue printing.
Cyanotype printing requires time for preparation, as to not take away from time to focus on the creative aspect, we will have fabric ready for printing upon arrival. There will be a handout with instructions that will outline all steps involved in printing. If you would like to understand the process in detail, please feel free to watch THIS VIDEO
OPTIONAL: If you would like to create a print using one of your own photograph, I can create a photo negative and print it out for you for an additional $10. Please send me a dm @oddgirlarts on instagram.
"I find cyanotype printing to be my favourite form of art to teach and share. It feels magical to create these prints using sunlight and to watch the pigments turn dark blue right before your eyes. I enjoy surrendering to a medium, not having complete control over the outcome and allowing myself to be surprised. I feel like I become a collaborator with the medium itself.
