Cuyahoga Valley Photographic Society: Photo Walks and Critique

The Cuyahoga Valley Photo Society is offering a photo walk at Viaduct Park on Saturday, January 24, at 7:45 a.m. Join us to explore, photograph, and connect with fellow photographers.

Led by CVPS member Jerry Jelinek, you’ll be photographing winter scenes and frozen waterfalls. Viaduct Park offers the easiest gorge area to photograph during the winter in northeast Ohio. The energy of the frozen Great Falls of Tinkers Creek adds to the visual appeal.

· General scenic lenses (17mm-120mm and 70mm-200mm) are ideal. Bring your circular polarizer, which will enhance the waterfalls.

· Layers of synthetic clothing, good headgear and heavy gloves are recommended to keep you warm, dry and insulated (temperatures are expected to be in the low-20s).

· The terrain can be covered in snow and ice, so wear appropriate footwear. Extra foot traction is HIGHLY recommended (Yaktrax, Stabilicers, etc.). Bring an extra pair of shoes and socks in case your feet get wet.

To submit your images from the photo walk:

· You may submit a maximum of three JPEG images. Digital images should not be larger than 2000 pixels wide, or 1200 pixels high. In our experience, digital images look best if done in the sRGB color space.

· Email your three images to [email protected] by Monday evening, January 26, 2026.

· Please make sure the image metadata contains your name in the Author field to ensure that you are credited for the image in our website photo galleries. Email [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.
