(Un)Layering the Future Past of South Asia will explore the interconnectedness and collective memory of the region that is seen in contemporary young voices of South Asian artists responding to social issues at the moment. The 26 artists in the exhibition are from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will explore the interconnectedness and collective memory of the region that is seen in contemporary young voices of South Asian artists responding to social issues at the moment. The artists primarily residing in the region, look at its crises through their lived experiences. The exhibition will feature innovative materials such as installations, films, and augmented reality works, alongside traditional mediums such as paintings and textiles, offering a rich, multisensory experience. The exhibition is majorly supported by the Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation - a beacon in supporting emerging artists from India.

As an extension, the exhibition's curators will discuss the curatorial premise alongside Rahaab Alana, a writer and curator from South Asia and a contributor to the exhibition catalogue. The panel discussion will be chaired by Beatriz Cifuentes, Exhibition Curator at Tate Modern.

Curating and Connecting Young South Asia is envisioned as a discussion on perspectives toward South Asian art from within the region. It will explore the voices of younger artists navigating the complex legacies of decolonization and its global implications, highlighting emerging talent and fresh narratives shaping contemporary South Asian art.
