CUNY SPH Alumni Network Meet-Up at Chinese Scholar’s Garden, Staten Island

You’re invited to join us on a visit to the New York Chinese Scholar's Garden at Sailors’ Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden on Staten Island. Opened in 1833 as a charitable institution for sailors, the property has evolved into a must-see historic and cultural destination.

The New York Chinese Scholar's Garden, opened in 1999, is one of two authentic classical outdoor Chinese gardens built in the United States. Based on historic scholar’s gardens from the Ming and Qing Dynasties and constructed by Chinese artisans, the “Garden of Poetic Pleasure” offers visitors an opportunity for peaceful contemplation among its numerous pathways, pavilions, and courtyards.

Admission to the New York Chinese Scholar's Garden is $5 ($4 for seniors and students).

Please note that the Eventbrite RSVP is not a ticket to the garden itself. Tickets will need to be purchased on site. However, much of the rest of Sailors' Snug Harbor is open to the public and can be explored for free before or after our visit.

You are welcome to bring others to visit. If you plan on bringing people, you can RSVP for them as well.
