The Culture Train Tour brings music to St Nicholas on 11th September
The Culture Train tour returns to Beverley once again on Friday 11th September There will be a gig at a new location of St Nicholas Church, Holme Church Lane from around 7.30 pm with four acts playing for free
The acts at this concert are Sarah Shiels, Sharon Maher, Chris JD and the Crazy Hearts and headliner Carrie Martin.
The first performer will be on for 7.30 pm so people are advised to come early. The event is free so come along and enjoy a taste of the Hull music scene at this atmospheric venue. The annual Culture Train Tour has been organising concerts at locations across East Yorkshire since 2017 and this is the ninth visit to Beverley as we have previously held these events at St Marys Church.
Sarah Shiels in both a talented singer songwriter but a very respected local musician who has performed in several established acts over the past decade including Beverley’s very own Velvet Dolls where she was the singer and bassist.
Sharon Maher is another singer songwriter from Holderness who has performed throughout the country over the past few years with tunes on both her acoustic guitar and keyboards.
Chris JD and the Crazy Hearts are a relatively new Americana style band with folk and country roots and impressed at St Marys at the Culture Train gig a couple of years ago.
Carrie Martin is a national and international act who performs at venues across the country throughout the rear and has toured to America and Canada.
She performs self penned songs written from the heart and loves to connect with her audience and telling the stories connected to them
Her passion is intricate guitar work in open tunings and she also loves to pop in the odd classic cover such as Big Yellow Taxi.
These concerts are funded by the East Riding of Yorkshire Active Creative fund which allows us to take musicians to play at locations across the county once again. This was created as a City of Culture project in 2017 and during 2026 there have been visits to Goole, Newbald, Wetwang and Bridlington. Besides St Nicholas there is also a trip to the Beeford Community centre on 26th September
Chris Warkup, organiser of the project is looking forward to the event "I always enjoy organising events at fantastic atmospheric venues. Musicians really enjoy performing at churches and we hope to provide another great evening of local music at St Nicholas This is our ninth visit to Beverley since our inaugural tour during the 2017 City of Culture when our project first took local musicians to play at venues across East Yorkshire starting with gigs at various locations along the Hull to Bridlington rail line via Northern Rail.
The event is free, doors are at 7pm, the show begins at 7.30pm and there will be a bar and refreshments available on the evening. Come and enjoy another great evening of local music at this fantastic venue which has hosted many concerts over the past few years as part of the Beverley Folk Festival and Stage 4 Beverley.
