Ayanna Crawford—author, adjunct professor, Chief of Staff, literacy champion, and founder of the Take the Mic Program—and Regine Jackson—independent local author, poet, and literacy activist—are excited to announce the date for the second annual Cultural Connections: A Celebration of Black & Brown Literature book fair, taking place on November 2nd, 2024!What is Cultural Connections?
Not just a regular book fair, a positive celebration of literacy and empowerment for youth and families of the African Diaspora, Cultural Connections is excited to bring the joy of reading to youth and families - especially those in the Springfield area! We are excited to invite local authors of all ages, educators, and community resource vendors to attend this event once again!
This family-friendly gathering will focus on promoting literacy and inspiring young minds, as well as encouraging readers of all ages to pick up a book once again. We believe that literacy lays the groundwork for confidence, self-esteem, and a deeper understanding of oneself, crucial qualities for today's youth navigating a challenging world.
