Have you ever wondered why you can feel calm and clear one moment, then find yourself caught in worry or overthinking, driven to keep going, frustrated or self-critical the next?
These are ordinary human experiences. But when we’re caught up in them, it can be difficult to step back, understand what’s happening and choose how we want to respond.
Cultivating a Compassionate Mind is an accessible, evidence-informed six-week course that explores how our minds, emotions and bodies work together. We’ll look at why familiar patterns of worry, self-criticism and pressure arise, and how understanding the way our minds have evolved can help us relate to these experiences differently.
Through easy-to-understand teaching, mindfulness and practical compassion exercises, we’ll explore how to cultivate a more compassionate way of working with our minds — bringing greater balance, clarity and wisdom to how we respond to ourselves, other people and the challenges we face.
Compassion here means more than simply being kind. It involves the courage to meet our experience as it is, the wisdom to understand what is needed, and the commitment to respond in ways that genuinely help.
No previous experience is needed. The course is open to adults and takes place in a welcoming small group of no more than 12 people.
